If your TV is a smart TV made in the last several years, there’s a good chance you don’t need any extra hardware at all to watch IPTV — the setup happens entirely through an app on the TV itself. The exact steps differ slightly depending on whether your TV runs Samsung’s Tizen, LG’s webOS, or Android TV, so here’s each one covered separately, plus what to do if your TV’s app store doesn’t have an IPTV app at all.
Samsung Smart TVs (Tizen)
- Press the Home button on your remote, then open the Apps section (sometimes reached via the Smart Hub button on older models).
- Use the search function to look for an IPTV player app your provider supports — IPTV Smarters Pro is widely available on Samsung’s app store and is usually the simplest option.
- Install the app, open it, and log in using either the Xtream Codes API details (server address, username, password) or an M3U playlist URL, depending on what your provider gave you.
If you can’t find an IPTV app in the Samsung store at all — this happens on some older Tizen versions — skip ahead to the Smart IPTV method below, which works on nearly every Samsung TV regardless of age.
LG Smart TVs (webOS)
- Press the Home button, then open the LG Content Store.
- Search for an IPTV player app supported by your provider — again, IPTV Smarters Pro is commonly available here.
- Install it, open it, and enter your login details the same way as above.
Same fallback applies here: if nothing suitable turns up in the LG Content Store, the Smart IPTV method below is the reliable alternative.
Android TV (Sony, TCL, Hisense, and others)
TVs running Android TV work more like a tablet — the Google Play Store is built in, so this is usually the most straightforward of the three:
- Open the Google Play Store app on your TV.
- Search for your provider’s recommended IPTV player app and install it directly, the same way you’d install an app on an Android phone.
- Open the app and log in with your Xtream Codes or M3U details.

If your TV’s own app store doesn’t carry a usable IPTV app, this method works across virtually all Samsung and LG smart TVs regardless of age, because it relies on a website rather than the TV’s app store catalog:
- Install the Smart IPTV app from your TV’s app store (this one is a small one-time paid app, separate from the free players above).
- Open it — you’ll see a MAC address displayed on screen. Write this down exactly as shown.
- On a phone or computer, go to the Smart IPTV website and register using that MAC address.
- Once registered, add your M3U playlist URL (from your provider) to your account on that site.
- Restart the Smart IPTV app on your TV — it will pull in the channel list automatically from here on, without needing to re-enter anything on the TV itself.
Troubleshooting
The app installed but shows no channels
Double-check your login details character by character — the server address in particular is easy to mistype. If you’re using the Smart IPTV/MAC method, confirm the M3U URL was saved correctly on the website before restarting the app.
My TV doesn’t have any of these apps available
Very old smart TV models sometimes have app stores that are no longer updated.
